Karen Flanagan, CSW

Karen Flanagan was born and raised in Plainfield, NJ, and has been a part of the Plainfield community her entire life. She has served the people of Plainfield through her work at United Family & Children’s Society for over 40 years as a Certified Social Worker (CSW). Over her many years at United Family, she has worked tirelessly in several of their specialty programs including Child Abuse Prevention (PRS), Children’s Intensive Outpatient Program (CIOP) for children 7-10 years old, Young Mom’s parenting group, and the Adoption program where she supervised and recruited foster homes for Border Babies. In 2000, she was honored in Washington, D.C. by the Angels in Adoption Campaign which is sponsored by the Congressional Coalition on adoption. Currently, Karen is the coordinator of the Community Support Project (CSP) at the Park Hotel. The Park Hotel is a residential Health Care facility housing 170 at-risk adults. She also coordinates the agency’s annual holiday gift program, which provides holiday gifts for families who are experiencing difficult times throughout the greater Plainfield community.
